“Uncle Meesh, you won’t believe what happened today.”
That's how my 9 year old niece answered my facetime call. I’d planned to commiserate with my youngest sister — she’s not taking the recent election results well at all.
“Hi Natty,” I said. I could see she was in their car, and I recognized the green t-shirt wore on days when they had some kind of physical activity at school. They were heading home.
“Uncle Meesh, the kids in my class were all shouting today, it was crazy.”
“Oh really? I bet they were being silly.”
Natty shook her head. “Uh uh, they were being mean.”
“Mean?” That caught my attention.
“What were they doing Natty? Were they breakdancing?” I tried to get her to laugh.
“Nope, it started with Ronaldo, he came into the classroom, saying Go Trump, Go Trump, Go Trump. Then everyone started saying the same thing. It was so loud.”
Natty flipped the camera around again, I could see the expression on my sister’s face. She looked pale and tired. There were dark circles under her eyes.
