There’s an Interesting Scam taking place via Text Messages.
The text messages kept coming. Strange numbers. +35 numbers. A few of them were local. And every message I received was odd.
One asked me for a lasagna recipe. Another said I was a kind person. This last one accused me of being friendly. Strangers were striking up conversations with me and keeping them going for no good reason. Here’s another example (my replies are in green).
But why? Out of the clear blue, a slew of messages have been hitting me up on WhatsApp and in my regular cellphone texts.
In the interest of scientific research, I pursued one of them, just to see how far it would go. They wanted to know my age, my general location and what I liked for dinner. I was intrigued.
It wasn’t overwhelming. An odd text here and there. Three during the week and one late on Saturdays. I was getting to know this person fairly well.
She was young, but not too young. Attractive judging from her thumbnail. Intelligent…
