We’re heading into a near future that will be riven with the effects of climate change. At 1.5°C, 70% of the coral reefs die. The food webs in the ocean collapse. Storms rage overland even as the seas become dead zones.

We’re not going to stop climate change. You should know this. You should feel this in your bones. Human beings are simply not capable of taking the actions needed to stop it or even change our trajectory to mitigate its effects. (Deeper dive here)

We will blow past an increase of 1.5° Celsius in average global temperature likely within our lifetimes. Just to be clear, it’s not me that’s saying it, it’s the United Nations Environment Program making this claim. It’s Bill Gates. It’s Reuters.
