To The Person Who Leaked The Draft Opinion
I’m glad to know the conservative majority in the Court intends to strictly apply the Constitution to their interpretation(s) of settled law. Because that informs me they will do it again. Precedent is after all, the coin of the realm.
It’s illegal they said. They launched an investigation because leaks of confidential information are expressly forbidden.
Maybe it’s an abuse of privilege or a violation of laws surrounding privacy and independence of the Judiciary. Of non disclosure agreements of all kinds (I have no way of knowing the particulars).
But I’m certainly grateful to gain insight into the mechanics of how the Supreme Court renders opinions.
I don’t quite know what to make of Judges that say they support settled law in one breath, and undermine it the next. See Colbert’s video below.

And that tells me right to privacy laws may be overturned. Access to birth control may be restricted, even criminalized. Gay marriage may be overturned. Inter-racial marriage may be forbidden and God alone knows what else they may do with the authority vested in them.
(page 65) of the leaked document states: “We do not pretend to know how our political system and society will respond to today’s decision overruling Roe and Casey.”
Yet someone knew enough to erect barricades around the Supreme Court when the story broke.
Someone had the common sense to intuit a politically charged and unpopular decision would spark…
